Veterinary Surgery

Our doctors in Manchester and Concord are equipped to handle common soft tissue surgeries that often present as veterinary emergencies. Examples include: foreign body, bloat, splenic bleeding, lacerations, proptosed eye, etc.  More specialized procedures are also available by appointment. These include laryngeal tie-back, TPLO for cruciate injury, thoracic surgery, surgery for various cancers and fracture repair.

Of great importance to our doctors and staff is pain management. We want your pet to feel comfortable no matter the surgery.

In veterinary medicine, we are keeping pace with human medicine when it comes to pain management. We watch patients closely for subtle signs of discomfort and try to ‘stay ahead’ of their pain. Planned procedures, which are likely to be painful, will often be provided with pain management strategies the day prior to the surgery. Preventing pain is the best approach to managing the pain. Don’t hesitate to ask us how we can help your pet be most comfortable during and after surgery.

Some surgeries are performed on an out-patient basis while others may require an overnight stay. 24-hour monitoring is available and there is always at least 1 doctor and a veterinary technician in the building at all times. Blood work and sophisticated equipment are available for patient monitoring. This can be very important for critical patients before, during, and after surgery.

Pet owners are encouraged to check in on their pets at any time. We do not have specific visiting hours and welcome a visit when a pet is awake from surgery.

We understand the stress that a surgical procedure can place on someone with a pet and will do what is necessary to make the experience as stress-free as possible. Don’t hesitate to speak with us about any concerns.
