AVC offers the
only dedicated animal
CT scanner in
New Hampshire
AVC offers a broad range of radiology modalities including: digital radiography, ultrasound, and CT. We also are equipped to handle mobile MRI. AVC offers the only dedicated animal CT scanner in New Hampshire. The General Electric XI Series CT scanner has been outfitted for small animals and the staff has been specially trained in the use of CT for companion animals.

CT scanning has many uses in diagnostic imaging. A sampling of these include:
    NERVOUS SYSTEM
    • Diagnosis of brain lesions including: neoplasms, encephalitis, granulomatous meningoencephalitis, infarcts, edema, and hemorrhage.
    • Detection of lesions within the vertebrae, spinal canal and nerve roots, including: lumbosacral degenerative disease, herniated intervertebral discs, neoplasia, syringomyelia and discospondylitis.
    NASAL CAVITY AND PARANASAL SINUSES
    • CT provides superior sensitivity compared to radiography for the detection and evaluation of neoplasia.
    • CT provides a thorough evaluation and determination of degree of involvement of the cribiform plate, ethmoid turbinates and all sinus cavities.
    ORBITS
    • CT imaging is the best tool for diagnosing neoplasia, retrobulbar abscesses, salivary gland cysts, and myositis of intraocular muscles as it provides information about the anatomic location and extent of the disease.
    ORTHOPEDICS
    • CT is very helpful in evaluating joint spaces for both acute and chronic disease. Congruity of the joints, small fracture fragments, and small osteochondrosis lesions which are not visible on radiographs can be seen through CT scanning.
    THORAX
    • CT is valuable for diagnosing lesions within the lung and mediastinum including, but not limited to, metastatic nodules in the lungs and tracheobronchial lymph nodes.
    ABDOMEN
    • All organs in the abdomen can be imaged allowing detection, evaluation, and identification of anatomic location of disease. CT scans are interpreted by boarded radiologists. It is the mission of AVC to make this valuable technology available to you and at a reasonable cost.
